Would anyone happen to know why they never sell Cafergot in the States?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cafergot This is an explanation as to what Cafergot is. I use it mostly for my severe migraines and I've never seen it in any of the pharmaceuticals in the states. Is it illegal to sell there? Edit @ Ben: No, I never saw the correlation, till now that is; I rechecked my link. Anyways; it doesn't really matter, in the least bit, because it's the only thing that works.

I have suffered from cluster headaches for the past 5 years. I have been on Nortriptyline, Maxalt, Cafergot, Midrin, Zanaflex, Zoloft, Prozac, and OTC meds for the headaches. I have had MRI's performed and my vision checked. I have a neurologist appt. scheduled for Friday. What are the chances that the doctor will prescribe me a narcotic? I am in unbelievable pain and cannot continue to function like this. I need help! I am a 24 year old female.

My Mother gets some very severe migraines with the full spectrum of symptoms. The Aura, weakness, tiredness, blurred vision, becoming disphasic, aching neck, increased sensitivity to stimulus, nausea and of course the everpresent severe pain. This has occurred all her life and of course she's tried many medical options so far including cafergot, imigran, ibuprofen, Co-codamol and a few others that I can't recall right now. I don't hold out much hope that anyone here should happen to hold the secret to why these occur or more importantly how do stop them. What would be helpful though (short of a magical cure if anyone has any handy) would be any symptom alleviating methods that anyone knows of to at least treat the migraines whilst they hit. At the moment all that seems to help is drinking lots of tea and applying hot water bottles or heated rice-bags to different areas of the head depending upon where the migraine has struck. She's suffering fairly badly by the sounds of things as I type this anyone know how to help?
